Career Education Programs - Career Clusters
Medical Technology – Therapeutic This course is designed for students interested in any allied health career but will have a focus on nursing. During the junior year, students will be in class in the morning. The class will focus on anatomy, physiology, skills, and vocabulary. Students will also take a science class at Buchtel. During the senior year, the students will spend the afternoon in class during the first nine week period. After completing the required classroom course work, the students will participate in a clinical rotation at a local long term care facility. The students will earn a certificate, which will enable the student to take the test to become a State Tested Nursing Assistant. The second semester of their senior year, the student will have the opportunity to work as a nursing assistant or volunteer in health care during the afternoon. Students meeting certain criteria may attend The University of Akron during their senior year for college and high school credit.
