Information Processing
With Adult Vocational Services' (AVS) Information Processing program, you can build skills in:
- accounting
- business English
- business mathematics
- computer literacy
- data entry
- machine transcription
- office procedures
- typing
What you will learn :
- Information Processing is a 37-week (1,092-hour) program consisting of classroom instruction and practical experience in microcomputer data entry activities. The major focus is an overall understanding of the capabilities, logic and limitations of the microcomputer.
- You will learn to use applications such as database management, spreadsheets, word processing and desktop publishing.
- Skills will be developed in accounting, business English, business mathematics, data entry, machine transcription, office procedures and typing.
- Participants will acquire experience on Macintosh and IBM-compatible computers, electronic typewriters, transcription equipment and 10-key calculators.
Specialize in one of the following programs:
- accounting
- data entry
- desktop publishing
- word processing
To earn a General Office Clerical certificate, you must:
- type 55 wpm with five or less errors
- use 10-key calculators by touch
- complete computer software and accounting projects
- participate in Transitions program
- complete 90 percent of work assigned with 77 percent accuracy
- complete required hours of classroom time
Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Adult Vocational Services, 147 Park Street, Akron, Ohio 44308. NOTE: A typing speed of 35 words per minute is required for entry into this program.
