Account Clerk

With Adult Vocational Services' (AVS) Account Clerk program, you can build skills in:

What you will learn:

  • Account Clerk is a 37-week (910-hour) intensive, full-time office education program. You will receive classroom instruction and practical experience in account clerk training.
  • Coursework includes general accounting principles, emphasis on double-entry bookkeeping practices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, specialized journal entries and automated accounting for the computer.
  • Other areas of study include typewriting, business mathematics, English and filing. Skills are obtained on electronic typewriters, calculators and IBM-compatible computers.

Earn a certificate:
To earn an Account Clerk certificate, you must successfully complete work papers and tests for:

  • the accounting cycle, service and merchandising business
  • combination journals, ledgers, worksheets, payroll systems and other specialized forms
  • related account clerk/office education
  • type 40 words per minute (exception for high accuracy rate).

Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
