Account Clerk
With Adult Vocational Services' (AVS) Account Clerk program, you can build skills in:
- Accounting
- Automated accounting
- Business English
- Business mathematics
- Decision making
- Filing
- Key stroking
- Office machines
- Spelling
- Spreadsheets
- Time management
- Typing--production and speed
- Word processing
What you will learn:
- Account Clerk is a 37-week (910-hour) intensive, full-time office education program. You will receive classroom instruction and practical experience in account clerk training.
- Coursework includes general accounting principles, emphasis on double-entry bookkeeping practices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, specialized journal entries and automated accounting for the computer.
- Other areas of study include typewriting, business mathematics, English and filing. Skills are obtained on electronic typewriters, calculators and IBM-compatible computers.
Earn a certificate:
To earn an Account Clerk certificate, you must successfully complete work papers and tests for:
- the accounting cycle, service and merchandising business
- combination journals, ledgers, worksheets, payroll systems and other specialized forms
- related account clerk/office education
- type 40 words per minute (exception for high accuracy rate).
Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
