Automotive Technology
With Adult Vocational Services' (AVS) Automotive Technology program, you can build skills in:
- Air conditioning
- Alignments
- Brake systems
- Cooling systems
- Drive lines--standard and automatic transmissions
- Electrical system fundamentals
- Engine tests and measurements
- Engine design and construction
- Exhaust/emission control systems
- Fuel systems
- Ignition systems
- Lubrication systems
- Steering and suspension
What you will learn:
- Automotive Technology is a 34-week (987-hour) program. You will receive classroom instruction and practical experience in automotive technology training.
- Coursework includes engine tune-ups, oil changes, complete brake jobs, alignments, exhaust systems, suspension systems and complete tire service.
- You will gain a working knowledge of the following tools and equipment: Hunter Wheel Alignment, Sun Vat 40 Battery Tester and Alternator Tester, Sun Engine Performance Tester (Model SS-400), Ammco Brake Lathe, Sun Scope 1015 and Hunter Rapid-Spin Tire Balancer.
To earn an Automotive Technology certificate, you must:
- complete the required training competencies
- demonstrate reliable employability skills
- demonstrate accurate diagnostic/repair skills
You must obtain a driver's license prior to graduation to receive job placement service. Classes are held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Kenmore High School Annex, 305 Paris Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44301.
